Faculty of Medicine, American InterContinental University, St. Lucia. White Coat Ceremony January 2011. Part 2

Dressed smartly in a white coat and stethoscope, recite the Hippocratic Oath, which began 43 medical students from all over the world journey in the medical profession when it was officially registered with the Faculty of Medicine, American University International (IAUCOM) During this ceremony, 16 white coat, which was held at the Hotel Kimatrai in Vieux Fort, on Friday.
The ceremony was followed by a number of citizens, officials in the leadership of society and government, including Minister of Social Transformation and Public Service and Human Resource Development, Youth and Sports, Mr.. Leonard Montoute and the High Commissioner for St. Lucia and the United Kingdom, Eldridge Stephens.
Various speakers called on the interest of the students in their studies, and describes what is expected of them and medical students. Also spoke volumes of the school during this great event.
In his welcome address, Dean of Basic Sciences, and a description of Dr. Jayant perimeter event as a milestone in the career of students. And urged them to work hard and focus on the task at hand to complete the journey.
"The road is still long and difficult ... and the coat you're about to wear is an affirmation of your commitment to basic principles in medicine," said students.
The minister described the vicinity of the International Astronomical Union and the ideal place for students to realize their dreams of becoming doctors, pointing out that he will be equipped with appropriate tools to achieve success in the changing health environment.
In inspiring speech which was punctuated with wit and humor, and Stevens stressed the importance of the white coat, noting that he represents the dignity and respect, humility and nobility.
"Wearing the white dress with pride. Do not tarnish the white coat. Not a disgrace to the white paper. If you have no shame, and it will not shame on you", and advised students.
He said he hoped that the students after the completion of their studies abroad, and they will return to the island to offer their services to the community.
The Minister promised Montoute school that the government will adopt its efforts to provide education on a global level for medical students and other activities related to community development. "You have the support of the Government of Saint Lucia. Do not hesitate to contact me at any time ..." He said.
Montoute urged the students to work hard to achieve their goals, he said, adding that only work hard to achieve success. He said that although the task may be difficult, it is possible and must not give in to despair.

The Minister also commended the school for its role in the economic development of society.
Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, said Dr. Lakshmi Dodda students that they have under the responsibility of caring for the sick and they must comply with this responsibility and do their passion.
"Harsh medicine is unmatched by any other profession, and to the extent of dedication you will succeed," said Dr. Dodds.
She told the students that the coming years of life are the years of the most valuable to them and urged them to take advantage of them. It also urged to exploit their potential and leave something behind.
"If you do, and the kind words and my day will become reality tomorrow, and I have no doubt that this class has the potential to be the best of the International Astronomical Union at all," she said.
Was also to provide feedback by students from different schools who all confirmed the importance of the work of medical students. They also shared some of their experiences in school with regard to their study for the exams.
